Let's talk now about the updating process in Primavera, a little bit more Primavera specific stuff now, the first concept of the updating process I need you to understand is the concept of the data date, what is this data date? We really don't see it until we get to the updating process, on the Gantt chart the data date is that blue vertical line, and that blue vertical line represents your status date,

So every time you status your project that blue line will move to show what work you've done and what work remains, let me give you a visual here, when a project hasn't executed any work at all and it still in the planning stages the data date matches the start date, that's why the blue line’s at the start of the very first activity, but then as we do our update, the data date starts to move from left to right across the project marking activities complete.

So we move back to the slide on this slide the data date is roughly January 13th, that means that the project is current up until January 13th, we’ve executed all the work up until that date, all the work remaining on the right hand side is work that still yet to come, so that data date moves across the project on our status date, every day of the week that we update our project we move that data date.
