Hi and welcome back. In this lesson we’ll be talking about Work Breakdown Structure and specifically how to add breakdown structure to your project schedule in P6. Before we dive into P6, we thought it's a good idea to just review work breakdown structures and why they are really a very handy tool. I really like to emphasize how handy and important work breakdown schedules are for project as I’ve seen a lot of project that were create without any work breakdown structures.

If you go back to PMI, Project Management Institute. Who kinds of lay-out the principles of project management across all different industries, WBS is really a mandatory structure for helping you in your project planning. So let’s just explore really quickly a couple of little bullets over here.

I like it think of WBS as a data organizing tool. Its data or it’s also activity organizing tool. What that means is project schedules tend to be very large. Tend to grow very large especially if it is a very large large projects. Having that work breakdown structure in place is a means to help you to architect your data and architect your activities.
