Hi. Let’s carry on our discussion of resource costs. Still focusing on unique situations with rates. In this video, let’s talk about the situation where we might have a rate increase for particular resource. Sometimes unions and trades raise their rates in the middle of a project. Or perhaps a particular material. Rate has increased as well.
How do we handle the increase and or decrease of a rate in the middle of the project? So let’s have a look at the piling activity where you can see we have concrete and we are putting in about 330 meters cube of concrete. Here is our head blended rate, about 170 dollars and 50 cents. With the same rate, and the same resource down here, on the next activity that trenches and supports slabs.
The only difference between these two activities is that one happens in sort of the May, June type frame and the one above happens in the April time frame. So let’s have a look at how we can handle a rate increase. Let’s say May 1st the rate for concrete being increased. Here is how it works in P6.
