Adding WBS in Primavera P6

I now have the Railcar Maintenance Facility Project open and I’m looking at my activity screen. It’s pretty blank. I don’t have a WBS here and i don’t have any activities yet. So there’s not much going on in this screen. We’re going to add WBS and to do that we need to go to the screen for that which is WBS screen. How do you get there? Well, two ways.

You can either use this button on the directory bar, the one that is labeled WBS for some of you, and if that doesn’t work you can always go to the project menu and choose WBS. Now for me that opens up this WBS tab and for you that should take you if you’re in version 7, that should bring you right to the WBS screen.

I have an entry already on the screen and that’s what we call the root element of the WBS. It's essentially the name of the project and the project ID. This entry comes from when we set up the project. What will be doing now is we’ll be adding our WBS hierarchy. A WBS can have many levels so we will start by adding the first or top most for our project. How do we do that? Well, we’re going to start by using this plus button over here on the far right to add a new was on it.
