Adding Expenses in Primavera P6

Hey, welcome back. Let’s have a look at the procurement area of a railcar maintenance facility to understand some examples of how we can use expenses. So we have some procurement items that are being manufactured specifically for this project. We may want to add those items and we may want to add the expense cost of those items right into the project. Have a notice that each of these items is actually a finished milestone. That’s okay. We are allowed to apply expense cost to milestones.

We are not allowed as you can see here on the resources tab to apply resource costs or resources to any milestone in primavera P6. However, we can apply expenses. So on the expense tab we can simply add an expense. Let’s give the expense a name. We will match the activity name and we can also specify an expense category.

Now again these are customizable and can be set up to match your particular project or your enterprise. So here we will label these as materials. Okay, I am going to skip accrual type for a moment and talk about the units. You have all sorts of options here if you like you could put one unit and the price of the entire delivery or if you like you could break it down into the units of each individual rail. So we could put $14.95 taken from the description here. The price per unit of those let’s say $500 to give us a total budgeted cost for that item...
