A Walkthrough of Each Percent Complete Type in Primavera P6

Let’s take some time to go a little bit deeper into each percent complete type, I want to remind you that when we status an activity, we’re not just statusing start and finish date and percent complete, that’s the high level status, there’s also important status work to be done on the resources tab such as actual units and actual cost.

Watch what happens with duration percent complete, when I type in a duration percent complete value and we’ll use twenty five percent again, there’s some automatic calculations so duration percent complete field drives some other fields.

For example it drives my remaining duration field, remaining duration got updated to 8. Not only that on the resources tab, the duration percent complete drove the actual units, it updated this actual units to twenty hours for me and that then drove the actual cost of the activity.

Now, that may seem like it's really nice functionality that we type in one number and it drives all the other numbers but in fact it limits your options. For the case of duration percent complete when I say it's twenty five percent, because it drives actual units it is suggesting that the resource work is going to progress exactly what the duration of the activity.
