Welcome back to the course. This lesson is about understanding calendars in Primavera P6. Let's talk about calendars using some simple examples so that we can understand how Primavera uses calendars to schedule work. Before we dive into our project, I want to explain a couple things about calendars. Calendars are a way for me to set working time and non-working time and allow Primavera to schedule the work around those constraints.

Now if I dive into a calendar which we’ll do a little bit later. If I dive into how a calendar is set up, we'll see that there's really three levels of working time, non-working time constraints. The first level is really down at the hourly level. We're inside a calendar and I can specify which hours of the day are workable and which hours of the day are non-workable.

The second level is a little bit higher, it's kind of at the weekly level, and on a weekly basis, I can specify which days of the week are workable and which days of the week are not workable as well. And the third level would be even a step higher. It's kind of a monthly or yearly view and I can use that monthly or yearly view to specify corporate holidays or staff holidays. So I sort of have three levels where I can specify which times are workable and which times are not.

Next, I just want to draw your attention to how calendars get set in Primavera. ...
