Before we get started in this lesson, go ahead and open the project shown here so you can follow along. Welcome back. In this lesson, we're going to look at adding activities to the schedule. We'll look at the different types of activities, some of the different changes you can make. First of all, how to define an activity. An activity is a defined piece of work which has a start and an end. It will have a duration, how long the activity is going to take to complete.

Or, alternatively, it might be a line in the sand when something is due to finish, or maybe a starting point, in which case, on either of those examples, you choose a milestone. So we'll look at those different options. So let's say I want to create a new milestone. Currently, I have milestones for the Construction Start and the Construction Finish. So I want to add in milestones for Pre-construction Start and Pre-construction Finish.

So to do that, the easy way is to right-click on the WBS element that you want to add it to, in my case, Draft Milestones, and click Add Activity. The line is flashing here for activity ID, so I'm going to keep it consistent, and call it Pre-construction Start. If I click the Save button, you'll notice I've created an activity with a duration of five days that's linked to the system default, which ours is set to five days.

You'll also see that a act...
