Activity Codes in P6 EPPM

Activity codes are a really good way of highlighting activities, where to work, and the duration. In this lesson you'll learn what activity codes are and how they work. You'll also be able to create your own RFC code and more.

In this lesson, we're going to take a look at activity codes, what they are, how they work. In our schedule here, we can see there is a number of activities. And against some of them, we have drawings documentation that is in different states.

You can see here these four activities...five activities are under review. And there's no way of P6 telling whether we have a document that is signed off for this particular piece of work because P6 isn't set up to work like that. But what we can do is create codes to tag bits of data, or tag activities, with a certain piece of information.

So, if I want to highlight which of my activities have drawings that are under review, I can create an activity code for that purpose. I can also say, I can have another code to show which documents are approved or the drawings for those four activities there have been approved. So, by tagging them with these codes, I can pull that information out from the project. Let's go into P6 now and see how this works.

So, here we are in the project. What we want to do is highlight some of those activities with codes, so that we can pull them out later for maybe a report, or to get an idea of what drawings are under review. So, what we're going to do is customize our view, so that we can see a particular column to highlight that information.

I'll just click on the C...
