Customizing P6 EPPM Views

We're going to take a look at P6 EPPM's Views. I'll show you how to customize Views and change the way the data is shown on screen.

In this lesson, we're going to take a look at P6 Web's views. What we're going to do is change the way the data is shown on screen. So a view is basically how you see the data on the screen. It's not changing the data itself, but it's changing how it's shown. So in this particular view, my default view, I can see that I've got the ID, the name of the project, start and the day to date, the project owner, responsible manager and location.

So in this particular view, those columns are shown but there are equally other columns we could show. We could group the data slightly differently on the screen. Maybe I want to hide these tabs at the bottom. All of those changes are stored when you save the view. So what we're going to have a look at is all the different options you've got, not just in the HTML, but we'll switch across to the classic Java-enabled view as well.

One of the things I've noticed in the HTML setup is the inability to save a view as a different name. It's something that actually comes up later on. When you make the changes, P6 Web recognizes that you've made changes and gives you the option of saving the view or saving the view as a different name. So don't worry about that for the time being.
