Before we get started in this lesson, go ahead and open the project shown here so you can follow along. Hello again. In this lesson, we're going to talk about date constraints in P6 web. P6 Schedule is in a very idealistic way. We put logic into the plan, it assumes a finished to start relationship, we schedule the plan, and there's no effect of outside influence. In this example, it's a little bit more realistic. On our second activity, the materials we require are not available until June 1st.

So, we've got a delay between those two activities. What we need to do is put an activity date constraint. They can be applied to activity as a start date constraint or finished date constraint or both. It delays activities to a specific date, enabling us to set deadlines. We're also able to mark activities to be delivered as late as possible. We're going to have a look at all of those things in P6.

Let's take a look at this example. The start on or after constraint type. We're going to force a milestone to start no earlier than April 30th, 2013. So what's going to happen to this successor? What happens when we fix a constraint? It has a knock-on effect to all the other activities within the chain and what you get within the tool is a little asterisk to highlight that constraint. Another option is to finish on or before setting a deadline for a piece of work. On th...
