Before we get started in this lesson, go ahead and open the project shown here so you can follow along.

Hello. This is the lesson on assigning funding to summary activities. So first of all, what do I mean by summary activities? A summary activity is an activity that does not have a set duration. It's fixed by the activities that it links to in the case of a level of effort activity, or in the case of a work breakdown structure summary activity, it will mirror the start and finish date of the work breakdown structure element to which it belongs. We do have another lesson on that.

So what I'm gonna do first of all is add an activity to the project level and I'm gonna call it Project Management. What we'll do is change that to a work breakdown structure summary activity, and I'm gonna change the duration type to fixed units per time. I'll explain why in a moment. Okay. I'm gonna schedule the plan now by clicking the schedule button up here on the top left, and I'm gonna use the current date as it stands at the moment. Okay.

So we can now see that my project management activity runs from the 1st of September. It's marked as actually started because the project plan has been marked as actually started, and it runs until the 27th of November 2019, and that mirrors the finish dates of the project as well.
