Before we get started in this lesson, go ahead and open the project shown here and see if you can follow along.

In this lesson we're going to take a look at non-resource expenditure, otherwise known as expenses. This particular view is one I created for the resource assignments lesson but I'm going to utilize it here again and add in another column or two. I'll just click on the button just here through driver and spanner and I'm going to type in expense into the available columns at the top.

I'll take a planned expense cost and I will drop that over here, that's a baseline one, we don't need that. Now I'm going to add in planned expense costs, so if I click on that, hit the button to move it across and I'm just going to move it up a little bit as well. Click apply, to apply those changes to the view and I'm going to choose to save the view.

Okay, let's expand project plan and pick on an activity to assign some expense to. I'm going to click on steel work. Now down at the bottom of the page we've now got a different set of tabs and one of those is expenses so I'll click on that and see the different options that we've got. Okay, so here's the expense item and details tab and I'm going to add a new expense item in. Let's say it's hotel expenditure and I'll put that in there.
