Opening and Closing Projects

In this lesson David will teach you about the basics of opening and closing projects. Once a project is open, you can jump into other parts or other pages within P6 Web and one of those will be the Activities page. Check it out.

Before we get started in this lesson, go ahead and open the project shown here so you can follow along. Hello, and welcome to the lesson on opening and closing projects in P6 Web. We're starting off in the HTML view. We'll also take a look a little bit later on at the classic view and there's a number of different options. Some of them are similar to P6 Professional, some of them are slightly different and like most applications, everyone will have their own favorite way of doing it.

First of all, I'm going to click on the little cog that appears to the left of my exercise number two project. The option third on the list there is to open the project, so if I click on that, the P6 Web will open the project for me. Once that's done, it doesn't automatically switch across to the activities window, but what you're able to see underneath EPS node, PA for Plan Academy is that this little folder here is now shown as open. So that's something that is similar to P6 Professional.

Once a project is open, you can jump into other parts or other pages within P6 Web and one of those will be the activities page. My activities page in P6 here has taken me to the Java view, the classic view rather than standard HTML. I'll talk about those in other lessons.
