Percent Complete Types in P6 EPPM

P6 EPPM has three different ways of measuring Percent Complete when recording progress against an activity. In this lesson we'll take a look at how P6 chooses a default when you create a new activity and more.

Before we get started in this lesson, go ahead and open the project shown here so you can follow along.

P6 Web has three different ways of measuring Percent Complete when recording progress against an activity. First of all, though, we'll take a look at how P6 chooses a default when you create a new activity. To do that, I'm gonna right-click on the project, and select Set Project Preferences. This is much like the default tab in P6 Professional if you've used that.

So, here for new activities on the General Tab, I have a default for the Percent Complete Type. And those are three different ways of measuring Percent Complete. We have physical, how much of the work has been done, duration, how much of the time on the activity has passed, and units. If I have a measurable amount of units, how many of those have we done? Mine is set to physical, so I'm just gonna cancel out of that and go back to the activities page.

When measuring Percent Complete, you need to make sure that you have marked the activity has started. So I've got an activity here, Project Management that is in progress because it started on the 1st of September, my capital A here indicates that, for there's 0% on the physical recording. I'm gonna add in a couple more additional columns here, the Duration Percent Complete and the Units Percent Complete.
