Before we get started in this lesson, go ahead and open the project shown here so you can follow along. In this lesson, we're going to look at Scheduling and Scheduling Options within P6. I've got this screen up to remind you of the way that P6 calculates early and late dates by the Critical Path Methodology. We have a project schedule that replicates this, and we're going to show the early and late dates here as well as in the P6 schedule.

Let's go across to P6. Here's our P6 schedule with the number of activities, A to G, plan duration of X number of days. Now, just to make it simple, I have set our calendar to a seven-day working week and also replicates our CPM example from earlier. All the activities are linked up, so when I click on activity B, I can see that activity A is a predecessor, activities E and D are successors, or the relationship type setup, finish to start But, what we haven't done is click the button which schedules a plan.

So, at the moment, our Gantt Chart is linear, all of our activities stacked on top of each other. What we're going to do is run the schedule, see some of the options, and then refer back to our example. In P6 Professional, scheduling the plan is F9. Very simply, in P6 Web, in this particular view HTML, we've got a schedule button right here, and it also tells you that F9 is available as well.
