Statusing the Project in P6 EPPM

We're going to show you how to create a filter to limit the number of activities we see on screen when statusing the project, how to handle an activity that's in progress and much more.

Before we get started in this lesson, go ahead and open the project shown here so you can follow along. In this lesson, we're going to use the view that we created in a previous lesson for doing schedule updates. I've also added in a couple more columns to make it easier to show you a couple more things, them being the actual start and the actual finish, and the activity status columns as well.

So what we're going to do first of all is to just create a filter to limit the number of activities we see on screen. So to do that, I'm going to click on the Filters button just here. And then manage filters. And what I'm going to say is activities occurring within a specified number of days.

We're going to say 40 days. Save button and then click save view. What I'll do now is just expand it up so I can see how many activities we've got to update. So what that is showing me is all the activities that are due to start, finish, or be in progress during the next 40 days, and there's not too many.

So it's quite a straightforward process. You can see that this project is already on the go. So we've got some capital A's against activities that have already started and there some that are in progress as well. And not started some that are completed.
