All projects must be clearly defined before we undertake them. Is your project defined well enough? Are you working on poorly defined projects?
As a little exercise, we wanna see, you know, examples of what can be considered as a project. Now, if you say for example, "I like to improve my education." So does that constitute a project? This improving my education? Is it a project?
It can be, but in the way I put it here, it's not well-defined project, all right. So, I have to measure that. And we call them metrics, I have to have metrics. And we define success usually by measuring how did we achieve the goal within our constraints.
So, we like to define this a little better. So, for example, if I say, "I plan to obtain my MBA degree, the Masters in Business Administration from an accredited school by the year 2020," yes, then that is a project.
I can add another financial constraint for example, and I can say my budget is only $20,000. That I would like to obtain my MBA from an accredited school and spend no more than $20,000 and finish no later than 2020.
In this case, it is a project and I can measure success. Did I achieve my goal obtaining MBA? Yes or no? And if yes, is it within the constraints I put by the year 2020? Or I'm late or I'm early? Did I spend the amount of money within my budget? Yes or no. And so on.
The other example is, I want to save a good amount of my salary. Again, it can be a project but right now it's not. Why? Because it's not defined enoug...
