If you haven’t heard yet, Oracle’s acquisition team has been busy. This time it’s for You, dear Primavera user. Oracle has acquired Skire, a California-based program management and facilities management software shop. It plans to bring Skire’s cloud-based software offerings into the Primavera suite.
Q: How will Primavera users benefit?
Skire’s program and facilities management software looks really good. From our quick assessment of it’s capabilities, it brings together a lot of data that is currently missing in the current Primavera solution, especially on the cost management side – RFI, change control, submittals, design reviews, contractual data and more under it’s Unifier platform. Perhaps we’ll finally see cost and schedule combined in 1 system. At least that will be the goal.
What’s more is Skire’s Unifier allows for customizable workflows to manage and route all of it’s project data. This sounds alot like Oracle’s Business Process Management tool. But now it’s built-in into the tool and not a complicated add-on like BCM.
So who will benefit?
Since Skire’s tools are cloud-based, Primavera P6 EPPM (web) users are going to see enhancements from this acquisition first.
Q: Where can I see a sneak-peek at Skire’s software?
Good question. I found a short demo on youtube. The quality of the video is not ideal, but you can still get a good preview of Skire’s Unifier application.
