OracleWorld 2014 is under way in San Francisco this week and the big reveal was the new Oracle cloud database. Oh. AND Larry Ellison has a new job.
In his keynote, Larry Ellison seemed to be thrilled about the changes made internally at Oracle – stepping down as CEO of 37 years to take on the role of Chief Technology Officer and Executive Chairman.
Throughout his presentation he would jokingly admit, “I’m going to sign in with John Smith. They took away my CEO title, took away my name – it’s been a rough few weeks” and “I love my new job. Almost no one works for me now.” With all of the jokes aside, he remains the largest shareholder at Oracle.
Who is the new CEO? Mark Hurd and Safra Catz are the new co-CEOs. But according to Business Insider, not much is changing other than titles.
