How to Export Primavera P6 Baselines
So, you have a project planned in Primavera P6 and you’re supposed to give a copy of it to someone. You export an XER file and the other party imports it. But where’s the baseline?

The Nature of Primavera P6 Baselines
A time schedule is supposed to be a dynamic and ever changing simulated model of your project. This model will change each time you enter new actual data in it. The schedule, among some other parameters, presents you the current performance and the forecast of future by combining the initial logic and the actual data you’ve entered so far. Therefore, they would not remain the same, and you are not supposed to consider them as the initial plan.
You always have to have your initial plans at hand to make comparisons and assess the performance of the project. How is this possible when the values like Start and Finish are dynamic and do not contain your initial plan? The answer is called a Baseline in project management literature.
A Baseline is a static image of the initial plan. All planning applications, including Primavera P6, have a feature for handling baselines. However, the way Primavera P6 handles the baselines is a little different from other applications like Microsoft Project.
