Given a Lump Sum type contract as a framework and high-level resource’s Cost and Technical Resource calculations for developing a P6 baseline schedule, Earned Value rules and planned dates calculations can be adjusted for plotting the S-curve inside Primavera P6. This technique works when P6 Admin Settings are based on Planned Dates and Budgeted values only. Also this model does not use Expenses for costing the schedule.
Step 1 – Set up User preferences & Data Date
User Preferences play a key role on how you see the information from P6 and how do you calculate resource assignments. In this tutorial the following preferences were adopted:
- Work should be in hours
- Change your user preferences in order to hide the currency symbol.
- Change the resource calculation for add multiple resources to the Preserve option – (Preserve the Units, Duration and Units/Time) for existing assignments if you plan to work to assign the resource more than once.
- Adjust the Data Date start time to the Default Calendar, e.g: 8:00 AM.
