Its no secret that Project Management Offices (PMOs) have changed how organizations are being managed over the past years and we’ve touched on this topic before. Still, according to recent data, there are many organizations who are in the process of implementing a Project Management Office or are still thinking about it as a near-term goal.

In fact, 30% of companies currently without a PMO plan to start one this year (from PM Solutions’ The State of the Project Management Office in 2014 report).

PMOs are good at establishing a strong connection and transparency with the organizations overall department management and execution of projects. Check the stats below where PMOs aligned 45% more projects with business objectives. In 2012, the number of organizations with a Project Management Office had significantly increased to 80% and this stat continues to grow today.

Almost half of of PMOs deliver PM training to the organization, where 67% of that training is focused on project managemet software, perhaps even Primavera P6 EPPM?

Project Management Offices are far from being a trend. They are here to stay and have become a necessity for many small to large organizations.
